Pivoting: Bold Moves and Trying New Things
You are officially invited to my Pivot Party, where we're going to be talking about embracing change and trying new things. eek. scary, right?
We know that change can be scary and uncomfortable, but I'm here to help you navigate it with confidence and ease.
Because what's the opposite of pivoting? Being stuck.
You know that feeling of being stuck or stagnant? It's no fun, right?
That's why it's so important to make bold moves and try new things!
When you take risks and step out of your comfort zone, you open yourself up to new experiences and opportunities. You also allow God to help you build up that faith muscle, trusting that He's in it all.
Plus, the more you challenge yourself, the more you grow and learn about yourself. It's a win-win!
But it doesn't always feel like a win-win though, right?
Let's be real: fear and resistance are natural when it comes to change. We've all been there. Which is why I started my podcast the Life Edit, because I wanted to change the script from change to edit. Editing just feels more manageable and less scary.
So here's the thing: being scared and having fear is often just a mental block that's holding us back from our potential. I used to think it was an indicator that something was wrong. But being scared and having a healthy dose of fear is actually an opportunity to build resilience and capacity. So, we need to learn how to push past it. How? Well, it's different for everyone, but a few common strategies include reframing your thoughts because- Fear and resistance often come from negative thoughts and beliefs! Try to reframe your thoughts in a positive way. For example, instead of thinking "I can't do this," try "I can do hard things."
Another strategy to build resilience is by making small edits to build up your confidence! You'll be surprised how much momentum you'll build even with the smallest step. And another strategy is to get support from friends, family or coach who can offer encouragement, advice and accountability!
So, once you've gotten over the mental barriers holding you back, this is where more work is done. Ugh, right. More work? Yep!
Making a big change can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be when you're continuing that momentum of small edits. It's still work, but it's the fun work! So, I've got 4 practical tips for making bold moves and pivoting towards your goals
4 Tips For Making Bold Moves
Set clear goals and create a plan: Start by setting clear goals for what you want to achieve, then start planning backwards to create a plan to get there. Working backwards from your goal, breaks down your goals into smaller, achievable steps, and creates a timeline for each step. This will help you stay focused and motivated as you work towards your goal.
Build a support system: Surround yourself with people who will support and encourage you in your pivoting. Share your goals with them, and ask for their help and advice. Having a support system can help you stay accountable and motivated, and they can offer great perspectives and encouragement when you're feeling distracted or frustrated.
Embrace discomfort: Making bold moves often means stepping out of your comfort zone and facing uncertainty...which is something most Type A people DO NOT LIKE. Instead of letting fear hold you back, try to embrace discomfort and see it as an opportunity for growth...which is a great reframe for those Type A personalities that need a goal for everything. Remember discomfort is a natural part of the growing process, and it's a sign that you're pushing yourself closer to your goal! Check out this podcast I did on discomfort!
Celebrate small wins: Celebrate every small win along the way, no matter how insignificant it may seem...which can seem dumb, but as someone who has been trying this strategy out, it's kind of great! Acknowledging your progress can help you stay motivated and give you the confidence to keep moving forward. Remember that making bold moves is a journey, and every step counts towards reaching your goals.
I hope you enjoyed being part of my Pivot party and found this helpful in embracing change and trying new things.Remember, making bold moves doesn't have to be overwhelming. It can start with small, manageable steps towards your goals!
